About My Internship - JUST TELL

For the last semester I have been working with Vivian Farmery with the organization she is starting up called JUST TELL. The main focus of my internship was working on the pages for the website that the young child, older children and adults will be reading. This meant that I had to write pages the provided information about options children have for who and how to tell about their sexual abuse and then go back and make sure that the language I was using was age appropriate. During this internship I also had the opportunity to go to meetings with Vivian, one of which was with a meeting with a social worker and a therapist where we shared ideas for the website with them and they gave us feedback based on their experiences and knowledge.

From this internship I learned about the process of starting a non-profit organization, the options children had and I practice skills of writing for different ages. At the end of my internship, when I sat down to talk to my supervisor about the experience I had as her intern, she told me that one of my weakness was my patience and the fact that some times there is more than one right choice and you have to wait to see which one is the best to make. I think that advice will be helpful in many different things I will do in life.
